after a 100% perfect install, all printers are present and working. But the PSC 1315's scanner is not detected by the scanner tool. The other posts on this topic are fairly old and do not seem to fit well.

I am a capable Linux user, but My ignorance of scanner installation in Linux is profound.

This printer/scanner has always 'just worked' with various distros including the previous FCs on this machine.

Where do I start?
What should I try?

FC8-64 on AMD 3200+ with 250GB SATA HDD
desktop default installation.

Printers:
HP Photosmart 7450
HP PSC 1315

All automatically detected and installed

Network printer:
Brother HL 2070N Installed per Brother instructions.. working

Exactly what I needed. Turns out that there was something in this install that didn't like the PSC on a USB hub. The hplip-gui made it obvious there was a communication problem. (Although CUPS had NO problem!!) Plugged straight in, (after trying a few other things..) no problem!

Thanks Much!!
