Im thinking about purchasing a laptop which has Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG built in, and I know there is an opensource driver for it (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipw2200/) - ofcourse that one isnt as updated as much as the one for the 2100 is (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipw2100/). So I was wondering if anyone had any sucess getting the 2200 working - or if possibly the 2100 drivers could be used for the 2200 (b-only mode). Or just, any other information you might have would be really helpful.

Thanks!

It supposed to work with ndiswrapper, but the machine locks hard for me when I modprobe ndiswrapper. The native driver will hopefully working soon, I have heard a new release in a couple of weeks, but don't hold your breathe.

The same thing happened to me the first two times I tried to install it (also with a Intel Pro 2100) - a complete lockup on modprobe. So I dropped it for a week but gradually under sheer desperation took another try. I'm sure I didn't do anything different, but this time it worked and has been so far for several days (knock on wood). Need to fool around with things to actually get a connect, but ndiswrapper seems to work for many people.
