Hello,
I am running FC2 on a inspiron 9100 and I bought a Netgear wirless card (wg511). Does anyone know how to install these? I am a complete newb to using wireless on linux so could someone explain this to a person like me?

You should just be able to plug it in and it should work.
do a dmesg on your console when it's plugged in and paste the results here.

I have a Compaq laptop with the same card and it wasn't detected when I installed Core 2. So I ended up using the Prism54 (http://www.prism54.org) drivers. Just follow the instructions provided on the site and it should work like a charm (it did for me).

Yes,
As root, issue the following command:
/sbin/cardctl ident
pay attention to the manfid output.
If your card is hermes/orinoco-based, create the following file:
/etc/pcmcia/hermes.conf
Re-start pcmcia:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart
It should report that it is watching two (2) sockets. If so, you card is recognized and working. All you have to do now is set it up via the GUI under network.

Just managed to get a wg511 working with Fedora 2. Steps were taken from this site:
http://www.cafaro.net/david/MM20ReviewAndInstall.html
the only problem I had was setting the encryption key. If you use a string, prefix it with s: The example he gives should read:
/sbin/iwconfig eth1 essid MYNET Managed channel 6 key s:VERYLONGKEYCODE
