Hi,

I'm relatively new to Fedora. F8 being my first Linux distro installation. I've been reading through many tutorials and how-to's. However, I have yet to come across anything with regards to installation of webcam/microphone capabilities for my laptop (acer travelmate 3020). Hence, I was wondering if anyone is able to help me with locating, hopefully, an rpm with which I would be able to use my Acer Orbicam and the default AC'97 soundcard which comes with the standard Acer laptop package.

p.s. my soundcard works fine as it is now. i can actually listen to music and watch videos with it. however, i'm not too certain how i can test the microphone.

Once again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

for orbicam try with gspca, go on their site and search if your model (the code obtained with lsusb) is supported, after that if is it supported you can compile the module (it is very simple) or look in the livna repos and install gspca kmod... for the microphone is alredy recognized, just configure the software u are using

Most of what you need to do for the microphone is in configuring your sound mixer. Just play with all the settings until it works.
