Hi,

I'm trying to do a network install from the rescue CD of FC8. The sha1 sum checks out OK. I can't do a media test, I get an error about the checksum not being included in the image.

I enter in the FTP information, and see the network activity link blink, so I think the server is getting out OK. But then I get an error midway through:

/usr/sbin/load_policy: error while loading shared libraries: /lib/libc.so.6: invalid ELF header

Later, the blue install screen exits/crashes, and gives these messages:

Running anaconda 11.3.0.50, the Fedora system installer - please wait...
/usr/bin/python: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libpython2.5.so.1.0: invalid ELF header
install exited abnormally [1/1]
sending termination signals...done
sending kill signals...done
disabling swap...
unmounting filesystems

And it umounts the filesystems and tells me I can reboot.

I've searched the net and forums for the error I'm having, no luck.

The server is a dual Pentium III, 933 Mhz, 1 Gb RAM, with 2 logical drives, unformatted, as part of a Compaq Integrated Smart Array RAID card, RAID-5. Setup with Compaq's SmartStart ACU package.

I'd really like to get FC8 on this box, any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello:
Even though you checked out the SHA1sum's, it sounds like there may be a corrupt or missing file on the install media ?

You might want to try downloading the boot.iso image [~9.2 M] and try using that instead of the Rescue disc that you have.
http://ftp.linux.ncsu.edu/pub/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/i386/os/images/boot.iso

Thanks Steve!

I'm net installing on two servers right now!

I'm using anl.gov, instead of ncsu. I was getting too many errors from ncsu....

Thanks again!
