Good thing your post count isn't an indication of your knowledge!
50.
Another reason to think these quizzes are silly...

I thought my score pretty much placed me where I thought I was at as far as linux. but how can a guru get 50?

I got a 90, but I think it should've been 100: I coulda sworn that the 0.1 kernel was released in August '91:

I scored 100, too. Could've been even higher, but fortunately, Lipitor is very effective.
On the Linux Quiz, my score was...somewhat lower. 50 to be exact.

Your score: 60 out of 100.
Score 50 or less: Stick with Windows!
Score 60: Time to dual-boot!
Score 70 or 80: You've been around this Linux stuff for a while! If you are a guy it's time to grow a beard if you don't already have one.
Score 90: You do everything at the command line!
Score 100: Can you write the next quiz for us?
so I have to stick with Windows?
Time to dual-boot?Wow,I'm really getting a dual-boot both XP and Fedora. :)

Nope. Time to dual-boot WinXP-Win98 :)

Well, it depends. They're just testing your history knowledge. I've known martial artists who knew all the history, and others who didn't--often the most skilled artists were the ones who weren't really into the history, just the training.

WinXP-Win98?That's not a good idea…Because I never know why DOS Commands are so ugly,I just cannot give a look at them, dull and so stupid.

I didn't cheat one bit and got an 80. I've read the Linux Torvalds book and I've also watched the movie "Revolution OS". Those things both helped.
I missed the Linux care question and the Sun Microsystems question. I don't know why I didn't answer Sun..but I put HP. Silly me.

I didn't cheat at all. I thought the questions were pretty easy, actually. I've been using Linux since 1996, so I know a little about the history. The only one I wasn't sure of was the one about the s/390 and Wang VS. I knew about the s/390 but I had never heard of Wang VS, so I just guessed and got it right. I still think I'm right about the date of the first kernel, I'll have to look it up some day.

Knowing the history vs knowing HOW to use Linux is a lot different subject(s)....
KNOWING how to cheat the test is another---I didn't take the test but once...so how did I score 100?
(I live way out in the sticks,,,,,remember?.....and I am certainly a hick/redneck...and certainly don't know but about 70/80% of those questions, but I do have an enquireing mind...hehe)

Well, with that particular set of commands, if you haven't already quit ... that'll sure do it for you.
A warning to newbies:
To anyone tempted to try that code, re-think it! If you run that, you'll be saying "Bye-bye!" to everything on the drive! <..:p..>

No kidding!
Like who cares if it was Aug. or Sept. of 1493? :)
I updated Ubuntu 8.04 a6 with 359 packages in a virtual machine and then install SELinux.
But that is nothing.
I want ext4 64 bit and nfsv4 with SELinux, ACL's from a gui user rights tools on a virtual raid 6 server.
And I would like it by next week. :)

Well, since you know so much about Linux, start coding! You should be able to whip up something workable within a week, tops. ;)

Some how I only got a 50.
I had the same question wrong, and now I seem to remember that Linus announced the project in August, and actually released the code in September.
I confused that one too. I knew it was 1991 but was not sure of the date.
I had no idea that IBM made MINIX. I thought they only made AIX
I had never heard of Linuxcare
As far as the IBM S/390 and Wang VS go I was thinking - Well I'm sure someone out there compiled the code and got it working. I mean come on we have Linux on a PS3. It can run on anything.

I screwed up that one, and I should have known it.
But it's not surprising it runs on the PS3 - as far as I know PS3 will take installs of PPC distros.

70, but I got 100 second time round :p
IMHO you have to be worryingly linux obsessive to know the answers to q4 & 10 (date of 0.01 release, and compatibility with IBM S/390 and Wang VS) off the top of your head. Also, I have never heard of Linuxcare, and I've been using linux since initial slackware releases in early 90s, both at home and work.

Scored 60.
Since I'm supposed to dual-boot, anyone have a suggestion for me.
I've tried
Slackware,Vector,PCLOS,CentOS Ubuntu,Debian, RH6,Mint,Gnusense [spelling],E-Live,Puppy and a few others that no longer exist.
Please do not suggest anything that is not GNU/Linux.
Bill
edit: do you people think if one was donated we could convince a Wang VS to run Fedora?
Just curious, and I've a lot of faith in your skills.
