I know this is my second sugestion post today, but I think it is a good one. I don't know if its possible or would cause to much work for the mods, but could the news be changed to a moderated forum rather than locked. That way anyone could post news, it would just have to be aproved by a mod first before it gets added to the news? I know I have sent a few pm's to mods letting them know (or sometimes being the 50th person to let them know) new news. I would think than rather dealing with a flood of pm's, it would be easier for a mod to skim through a list of prospective posts and check off the ones to add to the news forum.
May just be a crazy idea of a ranting lunatic

I don't really like this, I feel this might make us too much of a news portal, which we are not. We're a forum. We don't need any more community sites that tries to do everything. We're not a linux news site, we're not a fedora news site, we're not a place to submit articles. We're a support forum and should do that, and do it well.
Thanks for making suggestions, even though I didn't like this one.

I also don't want to have to reside over the chaos which would occur, if we allowed you to start your own threads in there. It would be far too messy.
I had pondered originally locking it completely so that you couldn't reply, so i reckon its a good comprimise. If it was unlocked we would start getting so much irrelevant stuff in there.
