Hi,
i want to upgrade my FC1 workstation to FC2.
I did it with FC2-test3 and it didn't work.(hanged up during boot proccess)
Before i start to create new images from my partitions and waste a good day for an upgrade, i want to hear some field reports.
Thanks for sharing.
Regards
Rokkos

Apt wiped out my /boot partition. Fixed it, but don't have a clue how to duplicate the problem/cause to submit a bug report.
Fixed it though by using the CD's :-)

I did two upgrades using the isos from FC1 to FC2. Everything went fine. Just had to replace "XFree86" by "Xorg" in /etc/X11/XF86Config.

Cd's are definitely the best way to go.

I upgraded 3 machines. In each case, I tar'd the /home directory to save user files/permissions, backed that up to CD or DVD, then did clean install from CD, then restored *selected* files from the .tar file (within a users home directory I restored evolution, .mozilla, and any normal files, don't restore any config files for gnome and kde, like the .gnome directory, you'll mess stuff up). So, 3 upgrades, all went fine with no problems at all. I personally stay away from 'upgrades' and just do clean installs.

I did an upgrade through the ftp install. everything went great. I only lost how my desktops looked, but that was no big deal

I like your way, but for me a new installation will cause some hours of headache.:(
