Hey guys I wanted to install FC8 but my wireless would not work. I have just booted the FC9 Alpha live cd and the wireless works.

Is it a good Idea to install the alpha copy to my laptop?

Cheers

if wireless is that important, sure why not ;)

remember though, it's an ALPHA, so most things will be bugged at this point

It's very buggy, but it's also very fun if you have the patience for it. Just make sure you save your work often, or boot to an F8 partition for really important work ;).

Moved to Fedora focus

Don't expect any help with using F9 alpha as test releases are not supported by this forum !!

Your system/your call - but you are playing with fire using the development stuff.
FWIW I am having no luck at all with either the trackpoint "mouse" or the three ms buttons that go with it on a IBM thinkpad with F9alpha. Also my logitech wireless usb mouse is recognized but non-functional.
relatively few packages and no easy vid drivers to add-in.

You might be better off pulling the specific packages you need from the development repo. Perhaps just the kernel if it's a driver issue for example.

Leigh's right. The reason is that we're all interested in making it work, but the developers need the feedback via Bugzilla for any testing release. For that reason, we try to push questions over there for research. And, I'll 'second' that it's going to be a very 'iffy' way to deal with your issue. Much better to use a stable release and grab an occasional package from the development repository to make it work.
