The next release candidate of the lightweight Mozilla email client Thunderbird : 0.7, has been released.

Head on over to the product page (http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/) to find out more! A review of Thunderbird 0.7 has been published on O'Reilly's OSDir.com (http://www.osdir.com/), by yours truly. You can check it out here (http://osdir.com/Article1104.phtml).

(Thanks to all 5 of you that pointed this out. ;))

I expect that Fedora Extra APT/YUM sites will provide FC1/FC2 rpms of Thunderbird 0.7 (as well as Firefix 0.9). I believe DAG will also release Firefox 0.9 (and hopefully Thunderbird 0.7).

Just have your APT or YUM repository collection include Fedora Extra and DAG. Installation will be as easy as a few clicks, and you will surely enjoy these excellent products!!!

Hi yur1022
I have apt with synaptic. ( I have yum also though) How do I make them ( either one is fine) include Fedora Extra and DAG ? . Thanks in advance for any help with that.

for yum : http://fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware
But I wouldn't install Fedora.us (Fedora Extra) and DAG at the same time. There might be and will be conflicts between them. You have to decide which to use. Most use Fedora.us + Livna.org, I use the others without Fedora.us +Livna.org, so it is a decission you make once.

Unlike previous upgrades, upgrading to .7 didn't automatically load my mail and profitle from .6. To fix it:

In ~/.thunderbird, edit the line beginning "Path=" to "Path=default/XXXXXXX.slt" where XXXXXXX is replaced by whatever gibberish thunderbird gave you. (You can find you .slt folder in ~/.thunderbird/default)

Hope this helps.

Useful APT repositories for FC2 were listed under other topic in this forum. Refer to "How-To > APT Repositories for Fedora Core 2".

For a quick answer, the following APT repositories have firefox and thunderbird rpms:

rpm http://download.fedora.us/fedora/ fedora/2/i386 stable
rpm http://apt.sw.be/ fedora/2/en/i386 dag

thx yur1022, but one more time don't use them at the same time. Use fedora.us or dag !

I use both and have not noticed any conflict yet. Of course, both post rpms for same packages. Depending on version numbering, packages from one source replace those from the other source. But, so far, I have not had any problem.

However, as ilja noted, using both may potentially cause problems. The DAG site mentions "joint effort of 5 repositories (FreshRPMS, DAG, Newrpms, Dries and ATrpms)", which do not linclude Fedora Extra and Livna.

I never used fedora.us or livna.org, so I don't know about it, but on fedora-list there are allways messages about bad conflicts.

I've just had my Thunderbird 0.7 review published by O'Reilly. Get it whilst it's fresh here (http://osdir.com/Article1104.phtml).
