I have a dual boot Fedora 8 and Win XP on my laptop but I cant get to the internet or a network while using Fedora but can when using windows. I know my laptop is configured properly because It works fine with both Operating systems at home and work but not at one of my office locations unless I use windows. I read somewhere that linux uses all 4 pairs of a cat5 cable while windows doesn't or something like that.

Does anybody think there may be a wireing issue at that office location? It just doesn't make sense that on the sam laptop Windows works but not Fedora 8 and only at that one office location it works fine every where else. I soetimes get an error at that location saying that an IP address I assigned myself has already been taken no matter what IP address I choose.....I'm forced to use DHCP but not so with windows XP I can use static or DHCP and everything works fine. But not so with fedora with either DHCP or static...nothing works...at that one location only??? I'm completely stumped...any ideas????
