Yes Bradchaus, it's dialup and it's winmodem (actually I think so cause it says so in Windows in Control Panel/Phone and Modem).
P.S. Had to use this explanation cause still WinXP to Linux migrating.
Thanks

I have done a little searching. Lucent modems are generally whats called Winmodems. They rely on the operating system to make them work, unlike modems that look like RS-232 modems.
I have found the following links you may care to read. However I think you will not be able to get that lucent thingy working under linux. It may be easier to just buy a standard modem (internal or external) and use that. Internal PCI modems are oinly about $15. Good luck.

And thanks for link above,I managed to download just one of drivers (I believe one of the open source) because links for others are broken.
P.S. I mentioned that I'm completely new in Linux so could U explain the instalation process to me,plz. Acctually, what should I do with those files.
Thanks

When I boot my F8 it start line commands and stop with this command:

If the command su -
lspci
saysCommunication controller: Agere Systems 56k WinModem (rev 01)then it is an Agere and can use the martian winmodem (http://martian.barrelsoutofbond.org/). Most windmodem drivers must be built from source for the running kernel and this in itself is a challenge.
