I recently purchased an used poweredge 2650 server. There's a CD-ROM intact. How do I know if it's a CDRW? Is there a command to display the specs of the CDROM?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.Take it out and get the model number. Google the number and get the specs.
Optionally install hwbrowser.
sudo yum install hwbrowser
It's a GUI tool that will give you specs on all hardware.

Yeah. But not for what I'm trying to do.
I'm trying to do a clean install of F8 from F6. I've downloaded the CD spins. Thought I could just burn them off the server. But, my CDROM is readonly. I guess I will stick to the backup plan. I set up SAMBA server. I'm going to use my XP to burn the images off of the server folder. Tedious process.
I know this is drifting off of this top thread. But if you got any better ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks.
