I'm a bit new to the forum, but I wanted to add my positive impression about FC8. I have been using linux for simple servers for years but never found any distro likable enough for a workstation. This last year I have used FC7 at work on my desktop and I had a few problems with it. Things are a pain to get to work sometimes compared to XP.

Anyway, I have now set up dual boot on my Laptop, an HP nc6000, with FC8 and XP and I find myself using FC8 more than XP. I have gotten all network shares working, I can play all necesary media, wireless works (after a small hickup) and I have all the tools I need to complete my work. Finaly I have a stable and easy to use platform using my favorite operating system! (Although it seems to drain my battery quicker than XP) There are still some bugs/annoyances that I would like to have fixed, so I give it a 4/5. The problem getting windows users over to linux (atleast for me) is ease of use and I feel that is being addressed on all fronts lately.

Keep up the good work developers!

/Carl

PS. I also switched to FC8 x64 on my work desktop and everything is working there as well (with 3 screens too!)

Most laptop issues involving linux are a result of little to no information from the hardware manufactures. If they don't tell us that this piece of hardware has this spiffy new power saving feature, then how are we supposed to use it? That kind of stuff.:)

Unlike desktop hardware, laptop hardware is continually changing it's basic approach to power management. Hard to keep up if nobody will tell you that they have made a change at all.:)
