Hi, sorry for my English if I make some mistakes
now what's my problem
I install fedora core 1 (my first linux ever), but i don't know did i make the mistake or fedora can't recognise my monitor so after the first reboot (while showing details) the screen blanked out i see that my hard drive stiil work but i can't do nothing cause i can't see anything.
i make boot diskette and i started but i don't know any commands
can you tell me from there want can i do to change my monitor type???

You might want to search around a bit on the internet but: First you should try waiting a long time after your screen blanks out (for it to finish booting without video) and then press Ctrl+alt+F1, this will get you to a command prompt login. Login and then try running xf86config (type xf and press tab twice to see all possible commands). This should lead you through a 'wizard' to setup your video.
If that fails then you will want to get acquainted with vim (the Vi iMproved text editor) by reading its man file (type man vim) then proceed to editing the /etc/X11/XF86Config file by typing vim /etc/X11/XF86Config and making sure your monitor's refresh rate and resolution are setup right. Also check your X log files (/var/log I think) to see what the problem is.
Just post back here if you have any more info after following these directions.

Nothing happens ?????
I wait for about 15 min and just then I pres ctrl + alt +f1 and black screen changes and shows me
Enabling swap space [ OK ]
_ ( this blinks )
I tried to begin to write but as i said nothing happens ???

Something else is hanging up your system - you're not even getting into the main boot-up sequence. I would suggest re-installation, just using the "defaults" provided by the installer.

hi, ask a friend of mine and he told me when monitor blanks out to press ctrl + alt + minus or plus to deacrease or increase resolution and now everything is OK
