Hi,

I did a clean and std install of FC8 in my laptop (hp pavilion zt3000, centrino) yet I can't get my microphone to work. I have an Analog devices soundmax soundcard, or at least thats what it says in windows. I can hear music and use headphones but not the microphone.

When I go to system>preferences>hardware>Sound>Audio conferencing section and I click test on audio capture it says

Failed to construct test pipeline for 'gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat'

It also has Intel 82801DB-ICH4- MIC ADC as the device in the sound capture combo box.

Sound playback works fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help

Regards,

dubito

You're not alone...I have the same problem on a Dell Latitude D610 ... I'll get back if I find the answer.

It seems this is a Gnome problem:

Well... I still get the "Failed to construct..." error when I try to test capture, but capture now works with Skype. It turns out that I needed to check "Microphone Capture" option on the "Switches" tab within the volume control.

Hi dubito,

Previously, I had also problem with my microphone.
It was not accessed by me at all. Then, I tried myself to solve the problem. Suddenly, I found that the microphone was already muted by default.
I enable it and then use it. Now, I have no problem with my microphone. Use this one to solve your problem.
Hope, this may help you. :)
