Hi everyone.

My burner has always worked under FC6 and F7 using nautilus-cd-burner, brasero, etc.

F8 seems to detect it as dmesg contains the following:

ata1.01: ATAPI: Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-833S, VRS2, max UDMA/33
scsi 0:0:1:0: CD-ROM Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-833S VRS2 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5

However there is no burning program on the machine now that detects the drive and allows me to burn.

HELP!!!!!!!

It just started working the other day...I'm not sure if it was an update (I just accept them all) or what. With F7 I had some stuff tweaked to help the laptop boot faster...I did the same with F8 but noticed that some services weren't starting properly and I couldn't do other things like standby...so in the end I removed some of the tweaks I did and things seem to be okay. I think X-windows was starting sooner than some of it's dependants so certain things didn't work unless I hit Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and restarting it.

Speeding up the boot will have to wait until I have more time to fool around with it.

Thanks for the reply.
