it installed sweet! the only concern I have is after it finished installing and prompted me to reboot I did, however I usually get prompted at another install menu to configure another user, sound, etc... this was all missing, it booted right to the login screen. Anyone else experience this?

I had the same experience. Everything seems to be working fine, though.

Have you had any luck installing packages with yum? I'm not sure if the Fedora repos are overwhelmed due to download activity, or if the default repos are configured incorrectly.

This didn't happen to me. It went through the first boot routine like normal.

Same problems, no config window on first boot and the repos are down as well.

I found the issue with the missing config screen... You have to have network connectivity. If you don't it skips that second install screen. This is a new system I just built and I didnt have the MAC address in my router yet. So I added it to my router, reinstalled FC8 for the fun of it, and bam! there it was after the install reboot. So make sure you have network connectivity during install.

As for Updating, yes I error out also. I hate to say it, I'm not too impressed so far. I'm really thinking about slapping Ubuntu on for now and waiting. Also, my Desktop Effects isnt working. I have a GeForce 7300 GT card. I need to do some further testing.

Ah, now I know why, no direct rendering enabled. geezie chrizzie! I think the somebody needs to put this Werewolf back into woods, its not ready to come out and play. Obviously not enough testing.

This machine had network access during the install. Internet access as well.

Redhat went down for a bit, they lost a core router apparently. It looks like it's back up now :)
