Upgrading FC6 to F8 using DVD

I'm running my myth box on FC6 x86_64 on a AMD processor with a SATA hard drive. I'd like to upgrade FC6 to F8 using a DVD since FC6 will no longer be supproted. Is a DVD upgrade fairly painless or is there something I should watch out for?

I wouldn't, things changed between FC6 and F7, like the way the kernel labels disks, etc. It seems going from F7 to F8 might be OK. Then again, you might be lucky and everything will work properly. But I'd rather take the time to do a fresh install rather then spend hours pulling my hair out wondering why something doesn't work after the upgrade.

just back up your home directory and do a complete reinstall ... upgrades are not guaranteed to be painless, especially when going more than one version difference.
