 I jest got a PowerSpec harddrive enclosure that says it works with any harddrive up to 400GB and worked fine with my 200GB on a computer using windows but dues not even start the harddrive when connected to my other computer using fedora 7.
Is this jest a driver issue in-witch I could download proper ones or something else?

The number above the bar-code is MC749754
And the drive is a Maxtor.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

does not even start the harddrive when connected to my other computer using fedora 7
plug the drive, switch it on and wait a few sec.
Type "dmesg" in a terminal and take a look at the last lines. They will tell you the device node assigned to the drive. Knowing the filesystem on the drive, you can mount it. The easiest way would be to write e udev rule for this.

I tried that and found two different devices listed so I'm posting the last bunch of lines...

maybe this is to much or not enough but maybe you could help figure it all out.
Any help pleas!

the last three line should be something like this

sd 2:0:0:0: [sdc] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
sdc: sdc1
sd 2:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI disk
sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 14

can you check?

What is strange to me, is that it doesn't list any partition - only the device node (sda): it's possible, but not really common (I've seen this for usb thumb-drives, never before for hard disk). I'm sorry but I'm afraid I can't be of any help.
Try to mount it manually, anyway - as root
mount -t ext3 /dev/sda /some/mountpoint/here

use the right filesystem in place of ext3: ntfs, vfat, reiserfs ...

Do I jest type mount -t ext3 /dev/sda /some/mountpoint/here in the terminal if its ext3,
I tried that and got a message that the drive does not exist.
O also maybe I should mention that the drive has a fedora OS on it including a swap, temp and other things on it as default.
I'm trying to retrieve all the info I can.
sorry I didn't mention that before.
