Okay.... I am on FC6 and want to upgrade to FC7. I have a Compaq DL580 with a scsi CDROM. No IDE. I dont have a DVD that will work in this machine.
So first I tried copying the iso to the hard drive and booting via grub to install that way... well, this did not work. I believe I found the reason is that if the hard drive is an LVM volume, you can't install off of it in this manner... My drive is LVM, so I guess thats why I couldnt find the partition to select where I had the ISO.
Next I copied the iso to my other FC6 box so I could try to upgrade via FTP, booting from grub. Everything worked great except when I do it in this manner, there are no hard drives or arrays detected... and I don't know how to make it see one....
For kicks, I DL'd the live image and it boots fine and if I run the install from there, it can see my hard drive array just fine. So why does the live image install program see the array okay, but when I try the FTP install, it does not see my hard drive?
Is there a way around this?
