I was thinking of running FC7 64bit on my system listed in my sig. What I need to know is should it run ok on a core2? Will I notice any performance difference from the i386? I would also like to play Quake4 in FC7 64bit. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly apreciated. Thank you in advance. :)
Im assuming this is the correct download? ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/x86_64/iso/
Oooops, just noticed x86 64bit section of these forums, sorry.

It should run quite well. Don't know about quake 4. You should get a bump in performance when handling very large files, over 2gigs. A few configuration issues, mostly for firefox. In truth, very little of the application code has been written to be optimal on 64 bit. The results for me have been essentially identical to the 32bit. You might want to wait for fedora 8 and go for the 64bit then.

I pretty much have a similar setup:
Core2Duo E6420 with 2GB RAM
Asus 8800GTS
2x 320GB drives
1x 400GB SATA
Audigy etc.
I completed Doom3 sometime ago with this setup and it ran flawlessly. You'll obviously need the nvidia drivers fron livna, plus don't forget the 32-bit version of it as the doom3/quake engines are still 32 bits:
yum install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs-32bit.x86_64

Can't I just use the 64bit drivers from the nvidia site?

Hello:
Yes, but some programs will / may require the 32bit nvidia package. [as psyklops noted]
