windows compatible partition tool

What is the most compatible partitioning tool between windows and linux? I am trying to install winxp and it complains about chs incompatible. Neither option allows for a clean install.

What is the best tool availble on linux to create partition that xp will accept?

Hello:
Have you tried gparted to remove / delete an existing partition and leave the space as raw / unformatted and then try to install windows ?

Have you tried the settings in bios for the drive i.e change it from CHS to LBA or auto
