View Full Version : problems when installing vmware on fedora core 7

After i tryed installing vmware an i installed it once an i acsedently canceled
it.
an i tryed installing it again
an here i get this message so please help me
[root@localhost vmware-server-distrib]# ./vmware-install.pl
A previous installation of VMware software has been detected.
The previous installation was made by the tar installer (version 3).
Keeping the tar3 installer database format.
Error: Unable to execute "/usr/vmware-uninstall.pl.
Failure
Execution aborted.
so what can i do ?? :confused:

Hello.
1st of all, you really shouldn't use the installer. Instead, you should use the RPM.
What you should do now, I guess, is that you should delete all files created by the installer and then install the RPM. However, as I haven't tried the installer my self, I can't tell you where to look for the files. One thing that might help to locate the files, is that if the installer asked you to specify the installation location, then you will probably find the files there...
