Being such a novice in Linux installations, I need some quick advice for loading device drivers during installation of Fedora.

I have seen the boot option for loading device drivers (boot: linux dd or devicedriver) and have attempted to use this boot option to load images from a CD, wthout success. It always comes to a screen that asks if I have a CD, to which I respond YES. However, it never prompts me to insert the CD.

I assume I should have a separate CD with the IMG device drivers, but, when do I put this disk in during the installation process? At boot time? At the prompt asking me if I have a disk?

I know this may be a very basic question for most of you, but, I cannot seem to find an answer googling or reading through the installation guides. Please have pity on this novice user and provide guidance.

Guys -- I really need help with this issue. Not one single person in this forum has shown me the courtesy of even responding to my request for information -- no matter how stupid the request may be.

I have progressed a little, in that I realize I need to put the device driver image onto some device -- normally a floppy -- but, I do not have a single computer in the building that has a floppy. Both Fedora and Red Hat installation guides indicate that a pen drive may also be used to load the device driver image. However, when I 'dd' the image onto the pen drive and attempt to load it during installation, I receive the message that the image is not a valid device driver.

A 'dd' of the image (IMG) places a compressed driver (CGZ) onto the pen drive (along with all the other files). I read elsewhere that I should decompress the CGZ and place the individual '*.ko' files onto the pen drive. This I did, as well, with no success.

Would someone please have mercy on my simple request and help me to understand what I am doing wrong -- or, better yet, what I should do right?
