Skystar HD

Hello All,

I am in the process of building an HTPC based on FC7. I have decided to go the satellite route as there are plenty of free and subscriber channels, more than terrestial and I don't wish to go cable.

As HD is coming along I would ideally like to gear the system up for this, rather than pay out for digital hardware now and upgrade later. I have been looking at the Skystar HD card, as it has the option of adding a CAM module for subscription channels, i.e. top up tv etc.

Does anyone have any experience installing this card or know of anybody who has used it, not necessarily with FC7 or can you suggest an alternative card. I will be running MythTV as the frond end?

I'd go to some of the MythTV forums for discussion on this. There's a good Fedora based MythTV install called MythDora (http://www.g-ding.tv/)

It's based on Fedora Core 6 at the moment, but still gives you a very up to date OS on which MythTV is fully configured.
