I have 3 2Tb Lacie d2 Extreme external hard drives. Two of them are empty and I can mount them with either USB or Firewire. The third one is about 99% full of data. It's formatted in ext2 format. I was connected to a machine running Red Hat Enterprise 4. When I connected it to my Dell Dimension 4300S running F7 using USB, nothing happens except that the blue light blinks rapidly. I checked dmesg and this is what I find:
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 9
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb 1-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 9
usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110
usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110
usb 1-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 9
...[repeat]...
scsi 4:0:0:0: scsi: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery
...[repeat above with new address number]...
I've done a lot of searching on this problem with no luck so far. I've tried about 3 different cables with no changes and have tried all of the USB ports on my Dell. Just in case it helps I'll include the output of lsusb and lspci:
