I have just put an old D-link DWL-G510 Airplus Wirless G PCI desktop adapter into my old yet new fedora core PC,
I am fairly new to linux and do not know that the procedures are about installing new hardware, acording to the D-Link technical support I can just plug it in and it should work, but it is not  . please help :( .

the meassage and reply i got form d-link is as follows:

Dear ***** *********,

*****,

Since the router is independant of the operating system, it does not need any
software/drivers to function. It just needs a network connection and proper IP
addresses for the settings to be configured.

You can connect a PC to one of the LAN port of the router and the modem to the
WAN port of the router and then the wireless client accessing router wirelessly.

At this time there are no Lunix drivers available for DWL-G510.

We are currently working to develop Lunix-specific drives.

In most cases, Lunix should be able to locate the drivers automatically.

Should you require further assistance with your D-Link products, please reply to
this message, or call toll free at 877-453-5465.

For D-Link's preferred Home Networking application please try
http://www.networkmagic.com/nmlp/dlinksupport.php from Pure Networks. It
simplifies Microsoft Networking and may allow you to trouble shoot your network
on your own.

Thank you for networking with D-Link.

Sincerely,
HELEN STONE

NOTE: the reason I have selected other as my operating system is because I am
using difrent operating systers on each computer.

Is it possabel to use the DI-524 wireless roughter in such a wey that it would
run through one computer ( running windows XP ) then to the wireless roughter
then to another computer ( connecting via WLAN ) ( running linux fedora core )
like so:

_ ___ ____/ ))) ((( \ ___
/ \ _____ | | | | | |
| |--| |-- | |---| | | |
\_/ |____| |___| |____| |___|

net modem pc 1 DI-524 wireless link pc 2
win XP linux *

* Linux Fedora Core -- must be abel to receve requests on port 80 for web server

if this is possabel are their drivers avalabel for the DWL-G510 for the linux pc

dlink often have different revisions of the same model built with different manufacturers hardware.
therefore it is necessary to know what card you have.
you should be able to get up and running with ndiswrapper and the windows drivers disks from dlink.

what is the model and hardware revision written on the card?
what is the output of
$ /sbin.lspci
