View Full Version : Fedora installation failed (not bootble)

Hi all

i have been trying for the past couple of day to install the Fedora Core 1.
i have downloaded the 3 iso and burned them.
but when trying to run the first CD installation, if failes and the Error message is:
can't open boot device - vmlinux
i tried also running from bootble floopy with no luck.

i tried the Redhat7.2 installation and i succeeded, but i want the latest version.

please help

Your ISO may be corrupted. Have you checked the md5checksums?

the md5checksums of all 3 cds are the same as posted on the downloaded web site so i think they are OK.
can u please tell me where can i download a new iso files...
i have tried loading it from redhat site itself but there are problems with the site.
the iso files that i did managed to download were from one of USA mirror sites

Hallo,

i'm newbie 2 :(

i download all 3 iso & they are ok.

i tryed to install fedora in graphical mode, so i pressed ENTER

i skipped mediacheck because it's ok.

then came blue screen and there was a line

Running anaconda. the Fedora Coer system installer - please wait...

i waite for some minutes and he wrote me:

install exited abnormally

sending termination signals ... done
sending kill signals ... done
disabling swap...
unmounting filesystems...

.
.
.
.
.

you may safely reboot yoer system

WAHT SHOULD I DO to install FEDORA :confused:

plz help me

i have download the first 3 cd's (the bad ones) from USA East the first one on the list.
do u remember from which mirror site u have downloaded?

i don't know what's wrong

a tryed to install in textmod i wrote linux text end pressed [enter]

mediacheck was ok but at the end i got the same problem

install exited abnormally

I have the same problem :

Boot on CD :
mediacheck failed
...
nstall exited abnormally
...

Just wondering why someone would want to download and install FC1 or FC2 when FC3 is availible, and better at installing. etc?

Hallo,

my problem was RAM. I didn't has enough.
For Textmod u need 128 RAM and gfx i think 196.
I solved my problem by bying 128 RAM.

Your Problem is another one.
I think your CD Player ist defect or u have wrong CD's.

Try another linux versions Suse or something like that.
U know "learning by doing"
