My processor is constantly running at 100% capacity--approximately 10% user and 90% system. This problem started when I manually installed every rpm on the Fedora DVD. (I started with a Fedora-Live-Gnome installation). Two questions:
1. What rpm(s) should I remove?
2. Is there some other change that I should make?

Hello
I would reinstall and only install the default programs or programs I knew about and wanted. Then after booting up the new OS I would update the current installed software. You can always research info on stuff you want to install later.
If you don't like that answer look at services to stop. search fedora forum for how to speed boot up. That topic should be able to tell you which services are needed and which are not. Yumex is a really good tool to help you out it can be downloaded after initial install, from fedora repos.

with the top command you can see what process is getting so much processor time and if you can, disable it pressing the key 'k'.
I agree that may be a install package problem,

Thank you to both who replied. Top showed that pcscd was the problem service, and I turned it off permanently.

I had a similar problem but I was able to fix it by disabling the "execute disable bit" in bios. For some reason this was driving haldaemon nuts. As soon as I disabled this feature the problem went away.

Why install every RPM on the disk? Just curious?
