Hi,
I'm having serious problems with installing FC on a Dell laptop. I first tried FC6, but it failed. I took the same disks that failed and installed them on a HP/Compaq nw8440 without any other problem than having to do ACPI=off. I went back to FC4 which I've run before and tried to install that on the Dell laptop, it looked ok during installation, but when I tried to run yum everything fell apart. Nothing worked and when I checked the installation log a huge list of rpms that failed to install were logged. When re-booting I got a kernel panic with a screen shot identical to the 'garbage problem' which has been reported in several other threads.
The only thing I want to do is to try to install FCx but my PC does not boot from the CD-ROM. Yes, I've chosen the CD-ROM to be read first at boot :p but it only starts to read to boot CD and then rejects it and boots from the HD.
Can some one give me a hint. Any level of brutality is ok.
