I burned all of the iso files to cds, and when I insert them into the cd-rom drive, it says that it can't boot off of the cd. i'm using an old gateway that has no OS on it.

did you burn the iso to the cd as a data file or did you use the iso as an image?

Some possibilities that I could think of to check out:
The ISO files have bad sha1sum checksums (corrupted download)
The ISO files are okay, but were burned as data, not as images
The ISO files are okay, burned as images, but burned with errors
The ISO files are okay, burned as images, verified after burning, but the old Gateway CD-ROM can't read home-burned CDs at all or consistently

What tool did you use to burn the iso? It should have the option to "burn an image" and then you choose the file.

If you are running windows xp on your burning machine, download a copy of 'deepburner', then burn file to disc as ISO when you start it
Worked way better than nero :)

Then insert said disc into your gateway and off you go

How hard is it to burn an iso in nero? i always thought it was really easy. Giving him more tools to learn right now is adding steps he shouldn't have to do.
