After instlling Fedora 6 I got a Security Uptate prompt for over 250 some packages so I said yes. I did all the steps and at the end I got the following message:

[('file /usr/bin/gaim conflicts between attempted installs of pidgin-2.0.2-3.fc6.1 and gaim-2.0.0-0.31.beta6.fc6', (6, '/usr/bin/gaim', 0L))]

So, I deselected the two culprids and got everything else updated successfuly. After rebooting I tried to update he two packages again and got the same error message.

What's going on?

Pidgin is the new gaim. Just update Pidgin and forger gaim.

The installer installed them both. The old and new version. Odd!
Shouldn't I uninstall gaim then so I don't have to deal with it each time the updater comes up?

Funny thing. I updated pidgin and then went to remove gaim and it wasn't showing as installed in add/remove application. I then reloaded the updater and although I didn't include it in the updates to proceed it was gone from there too.

I'm new to Fedora, and Linux, and as I'm going forward I'm finding out that nothing is cut dry in this environment. Feedback messages are too often confusing when not altogehter misleading.

I'm learning :)

Thankx for your input.
