I did a dvd upgrade of FC6 to F7 on my wife's machine. It froze at (approx.) 821 packages of (approx.) 902. So the only thing to do was hard boot. It came up saying it was F7. Did upgrade again and it said it had (approx.) 95 packages to update. Finished successfully and wanted to reboot, said ok, came up as F7.
Now the problem (only one so far) is yum (and software updater) won't work.
From command line yum update says -
Error importing repomd.xml for fedora: Damaged repomd.xml file
Trying another mirror
Error: cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: fedora
I copied the /var/cache/yum/fedora/repomd.xml file from my computer (using scp thru router). File copied succesfully, but still get the same error.
From Start button, yum extender - just asks for root password then goes away.
" " software updater says pup needs root password,
then says - unable to retrieve software information. This could be caused by not having network connection available. (Clicking on Details lists "none".)
I thought there should be a way to extract the necessary files from the DVD iso.
Questions -
Would this be the most efficient way to fix the problem?
Where can I get information on the most efficient way to fix this?
Any suggestions?
