Hey Folks,
I'm trying to get my SIP phone working on my KDE build of Fedora. The phone is connecting to my Asterisk box just fine but I can't seem to get the mic working on the USB Headset - it receives sound through it's speaker... but no love on the sending sound through the mic. Any help on this?
And yes, the units have been tested and worked on other computers just fine.

I am glad to know that you have got your USB headset working fine. I am struggling to get mine working. I have 'kdemultimedia-6:3.5.7-0.1.fc7.i386' on my host. When you said you just had to update your kmix what did you update it to? What did you have before?
Thanks for any help

Good question... the problem with mine was that the mic was WAY to low on it... you could barely hear someone talking through it... I think what I did was install the proper drivers for my on-board sound (can't remember the MOBO at this time, I'm think it was an ASUS, I'll pull it out and see). But after updating the sound K-Mix was able to expand its options so I was able to adjust the volumes specifically for the USB device (I didn't need any drivers for the device itself).
Wish I could be of more help, but the Fedora boxes are franken-machines I made as dummy stations for the office (more specifically our interns). Since we all use open source on our proprietary machines in the office anyway (we're running on MACs), it was a good fit at a fraction of the cost that allowed us to maximize our productivity. I have very little day-to-day with the exception of maintenance or troubleshooting on the things... Wish I could be of more help.

Hi Guys,
I use a USB headset as well but recently I've noticed that sometimes when fedora starts up it doesn't initialize it and when i KDE i have no sound, Restarting the machine sometimes fixes it but not always. Any ideas as to what i could do to fix this issue?

virtualsrini - try this:
# alsamixer -c 2
On the capture part of the menu (use tab to move across), make sure not only the microphone level is high but the microphone is not muted, space bar toggles this.
vitamin carrot - how many sound devices are on your system? I had a Soundblaster, my onboard audio and a USB headphone/mic and I found that having all three together would sometimes cause one not to load.

i have a soundblast audigy 2 installed aswell ... but i want to use my USB as my primary sound output ... under windows i could just disable one select what one i want to use but im new to linux and dont know if it possible to do the same under fedora 7 ....
on a lighter note im very excited about fixing an issue i had with ut2004 concerning libstdc++.so.5 now i just have to figure out how to get all the addon packs to install yay.
