Hi !
Can anybody please tell me how to disable IPv6 from Fedora 7 ? I already tried both "alias net-pf-10 off" and "blacklist inet6" in /etc/modprobe.conf and /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist files respectively.
Thanks in Advance..

The way I do it in gnome is go to system, administration, network. double click the device name. Uncheck the box that says "Enable IPv6 configuration for this device". Hit ok. Hit file, save then file quit. You should reboot or restart the network or NetworkManager.

Else you can disable it by giving the following 2 entries to /etc/modprobe.conf.
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off
Thaanks.

Are there any benefits to having IPv6 enabled?

Yes, if your internet service provider supports it. It has many more ip addresses available than the old ipv4.
