Fedora 7 64 bit screws up LCD display during installation.

Guys, I need big help.

I've just downloaded Fedora 7 64 bit Linux and trying to install it.

I got up to the part where you can choose to test the DVD for defects or SKIP the test.

I choose either option and the next thing I know, I see a screen with patterns of colour. . . .which I'm not sure what the hell is happening.

Has anyone experienced this problem before ?

System specifications:

- AMD Athlon 64 X2 DUAL CORE 4600+
- Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT vc xFx DUAL DVI
- Kingston 2 x 1GB RAM
- M2N-E SLI ASUS motherboard
- Windows 2000 (currently and trying to install Fedora 7 64 bit).

Would installing from text mode solve the problem ?

Ok, I managed to install Fedora 7 through text mode - hooray!

BUT

Fired up Fedora 7 64 bit, got to the text mode log in, logged in as root and typed "startx" and I got greeted with the bizarre stripes of colours I mentioned before.

Do I have to install the kmod-nvidia driver before I start X ?

I recall in Fedora 7 32 bit, I don't need to install graphic driver to use graphical mode of Fedora 7. . .strangely enough 64 bit Fedora 7 doesn't work. . .

Alright.

It's fixed now.

I had to install the kmod-nvidia driver from livna to fix the problem.

(by the way, if the admins feels it's appropriate, could you guys move this to the x86_64 bit forum, I'm new here and only saw that forum after I've started this thread).
