I don't know if it's just me, but I keep getting a lot of "Server forums.fedoraforum.org is taking too long to respond". About 50% of the time.

The forum is very slow and I find posting hard as it takes forever to refresh or load the page and sometimes it times out..
I think I have seen pages load quicker with dial up and I am using 8mib BB :(

Funny you should mention that. I use 56k dial-up at my shop and BB at home. There really isn't much difference.

A new version of Fedora just came out. This site has been averaging almost 8,000 concurrent users throughout the day. That's why the site is running a bit slow. This happens after every major release. Things will return to normal quickly enough.

Trade Secret: Open two or more Firefox windows for the Forum and leave the post you've made running in the background while you're surfing other threads with second window.

Nice try. But we know the 486 server is down and you're only running on the 386 backup....:)
Good tip. Thanks.

This site was sluggish before F7 came out.

Got to admit that there are times it's bogging, but as I've mentioned before, the financial end of the Forum is handled by Ewdi who has made arrangements for the bandwidth we're fortunate enough to have. It may be a free site, but someone's still paying the bills. BTW, the Forum is not a part of Red Hat or Fedora; it is the private enterprise of Ewdison Then, who deserves a lot of credit and praise for maintaining it over the years.

Didn't mean to question Ewdison's dedication. I noted that the forums were slow here very early in the morning, when most of the people in the new world are asleep and thought it was a technical glitch worth investigating. That's all...

Please don't take offense; I know you've been around long enough to understand, but many newer members think we're somehow part of Red Hat and/or Fedora and have unlimited bandwidth at our disposal. As to what's happening in the early morning hours, not a clue about that one. We're hosted by ThePlanet, which may have something else grabbing that bandwidth that we're not aware of.

giulix, I'm in the your time zone too and often entertain the habit of staying up till sunrise (I know, I know :)) and especially in those hours, for me the "forum performance" is excellent

Hello:
Sometimes, just based on my own experience :)
some of the third party things i.e. google-analytics / 26sitemeter et al
seem to cause some of the slowness.
Don't know, I could be way off and probably am.
