Hi.

After booting with my fc6 DVD, I run the graphical installer and get as far as entering a password for the root account. (I get past disk druid, time zone selection, etc.)

After that I get an error message that ends in:
cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository anaconda-base-200610172015.x86_64

and then I am forced to abort the installation.

The SHA1 hash for the iso matches up, so I don't think it's bad media (has failed with two separate DVDs).

This is an ASUS A8N-series SLI mainboard with nothing fancy about it. Generic (lite-on probably) DVD-RW drive.

What am I missing?

Just a shot in the dark, that fail message is for a 64bit install is your computer 32 or 64 bit / is the install disk 32 or 64 bit. Over to you.

Thanks for the shot in the dark, but it's a 64-bit AMD chip, x86_64 DVD.

Not a lot of takers on this topic! It's odd...my system doesn't seem exotic in any way...

Well if you've done the media test and it passed then maybe the problem is with your DVD reader.
