PunkBuster problems

I've recently downloaded and installed Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory 2.60b and everything runs fine on my FC6 box.

However, when I join a server, I constantly get kicked even though I'm not cheating and my ping is alright. Also, shortly before getting kicked, a notice from punkbuster shows up.

This happens even when playing on my own server. Anyone know a fix or maybe a tip on what the problem could be?

EDIT: I get a cv_tracerwidth warning ingame, after that I get kicked for rule violation #20004. Somehow the game client integrity check fails. Help greatly appreciated.

Check the error Punkbuster is giving. It can be anything from unpure pk3 files to too old PB version.

If it's only an autoupdate problem, try running PBSetup (http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php)

Sorry for replying this late, but it seems I always get kicked for game integrity checks (error #20004). My PB is probably outdated, will try updating it. I'll post a status report later... Hope it works.

EDIT: Seems there was an update available. Ty for the support :) . Will see if the game runs correctly now...

EDIT 2: No, the problem remains. Ingame, I get the error message cr_tracerwidth hacked, and a second or so after that, I get kicked. I suspect it's a problem with the memory scans of PB. I think it might have something to do with my swap space too, because occasionally my HDD seeks really long and after that the game usually crashes. Happened only once or twice so far.

I think the swap thing is a completely different matter - I disabled swap and the problem stays (my hdd doesn't seek very long anymore though). Maybe I should reinstall, because I'm not quite sure wether pb only works on clients downloaded from the 'official' source. Not sure where to get the original linux installer package from though. I got mine from a completely download oriented site, probably not very good to use.

So far, I've simply ignored the problem and played on non-pb servers, but the error messages remain if pb is enabled. I hope that the support query I sent to even balance inc. works... Last hope before uninstalling the game.

Have you tried remvoing the .wolf (or was it .wolfet) directory in your home directory? you will need Nautilus (assuming GNOME) to show hidden files (ctrl+H) or from the command line (rm -rf .wolf*), you may want to make copies or move/change the names so ET will re-create it and see if that helps. It happened to me once with Q3A with a "corrupted" home .quake3 directory.

Okay, gonna try that. I'm just gonna rename the folder because I don't want to redownload all maps in case it doesn't work.

Yup, it worked! I lost all my server scores, but it was definetly worth it! Punkbuster doesn't scream around anymore! Thanks for all the help! :D I guess it was some corrupt files.

Pfft, why bother, ET: Quake Wars will have a Linux executable. Problem solved.

Ive been getting punk buster problems also, even though Ive been playing ET for about 3 years i topped playing for a week cuz my computer had some kind of virus now its all fixed.. i keep getting kicked for "corrupt packet flow" and sometimes for unknown reasons... i updated my Pb millions of times but nothing helped.. i uninstalled ET and deleted all its files now when i join a cant a message like couldn't load official pak file, please make sure your..... idk something is updated to the latest version? ... i dont know what to do a anymore =/ i have also been being kicked and it says Disconnected for unknown reason: Not connected to a server please help me, what does this mean?
