How to detect the monitor model

before, I can use the ddcprobe to detect the monitor model and frequency,
but now, I use the ddcprobe,it fails and show message:

Monitor autoprobe results
Monitor autoprobe failed.


in fedora 6 or 7, how to detect the monitor information as ddcprobe before,
