View Full Version : fc6 boot error

hey guys im a bit of a n00b so bare with me, i been running fc6 now for months without an issue and today when i try to boot the os i can only get as far as the "enabling local file system quotas" stage and it stalls, i have tired to rescue with the install dvd but getting nothing.
im new to the os so im not too hot with the troubleshooting.
im booting it off a sata hdd 250 gb WD
any advise welcome

You could have a problem with your quota files or some could be missing. Try the following:
1) boot up on a rescue disc
2) make sure you have an aquota.user and/or aquota.group for the filesystems for which you use quotas
3) disable quotas by removing usrquota and or grpquota from /etc/fstab
4) reboot
5) turn quota accounting off and run quotacheck
quotaoff -av
quotacheck -vagum (see manpage for options)
you may have to reset the quotas for your users.

im asuming your refering to a rescue disk i should have made? an not just do a system rescue from the zod dvd?

An Fc6 rescue cd image is available from the same repository you downloaded the dvd image from. You don't have to have created one after your initial install.

you can use your install disk as a rescue, just type linux rescue at the boot prompt then chroot sysimage

yea i done that, but got no where :/ same loading issues

don't chroot sysimage. just cd to the directory with the fstab file (can't remember exactly what the path is when booting from a rescue disc). then follow the steps above.

I had some booting problem too. I stuck at NTLDR missing. how to solve?
