Well, there aren't many to choose from............
A quick look at penguinppc.org's distribution list shows only finnix and ubuntu as having ppc live cds
You can do basic desktop tasks and recovery stuff with the ubuntu live cd (although it can be quirky getting it to boot)
I've never tried finnix, but according to the website it's for system recovery purposes (command-line only)

sorry, but if you lose your password in mac os, you couldn't get it back that way.
You would have to use a Mac OS install disk to do this; I can't think of any way to do this using a ubuntu live cd.
You could install ubuntu, still, without the mac os password or without mac os at all.

I was going to say Puppy Linux but realized it isn't for PPC :/ I don't think it has a LiveCD, but have to taken a look into Yellow Dog Linux?

Not yet, Firewing.

Thanks for the suggestion!

But that cricket in the corner, among other reasons, inclined me to move the Mac off my desk, and give it to a Mac lover today. I opted for a nasty old dog of an 800Mhz P3 instead. At least it will run PCLOS, or elive.

I've tried to give the Mac a fair shake. Really, I have. But it just isn't the machine for me. The whole time I was using it, I felt very limited -- kinda locked in. And it just didn't set right with me to click that nasty blue "e" to get on the web. And whoever came up with that bloody hockey puck of a mouse should hide their head!

So, I guess we could call this one resolved. Thanks again for the input, guys.
