I thought I had found everything I needed to resolve the problem of my BIOSTAR mb w/NVIDIA chipset not recognizing the integrated LAN Adaptor.

First, I upgraded the kernel satisfactorily to 2.4.22-1.2174.nptl

Next, when I go to install the package (kernel-module-nvidia-2.4.22-1.2174.nptl-1.0.4620-0.lvn.18.1.athlon.rpm) it begins to run, but then I get the RED X stating packages not found.

(i.e.Installation cannot continue until they're installed (/usr/sbin/nvidia-config-xfree86 and nvidia-glx)

I can't seem to find whatever these packages are.

I am very grateful for everyone who has helped me. I haven't been able to get beyone this point. Is it the distribution of Linux I'm using that has this problem or is it Linus all together. I was told that Fedora Core 1 was a very good/stable desktop OS. I'm just trying to get this up and running to test how it performs on a network and with our apps we use.

So much for buying an integrated mb. Will do same. When this 1st happened, I thought it would be no problem dl required drivers/files and installing. Guess I was wrong........thx

I am using an Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard and the second nic (3Com) is detected and installed during installation. You can probably use the driver files from Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux.html
To get the Nforce NIC to work.

Thx for the reply. I've been to the NVIDIA link you posted above, but had problems trying to install it. I'm a newbie and not really familiar with the code/language to us at the terminal screen. I was able to extract this file and could see the directories/files after the extraction. From there, couldn't get any further

Used Intel Pro 100 Nic, which was recognized without any problems.......today is a good day:)

Now the adventure begins!
