First; Have you libgtk1.2 installed?

yep, everything required was installed and up to date

i found a newer version of ET (2.60 instead of 2.55) and it installed fine.

now theres a new problem, as soon as i try connect to a server the system completely locks.

Check if there's any on the ETs error log (if it have any).

Take heed on what you are installing this... I mean 64-bit or 32-bit system, as by default gtk+-1.2 in 64-bit systems is 64-bit only... You will have to actually go and fetch the i386 version for it to be useable with 32-bit installers. Also you may have trouble with the CD-ROM path which will require you to export the variable SETUPCD= or some such.

Thet I have tried that and it wont even install the gtk+-1.2, and honestly there are many things i am loving with fc7, but it has been turning into more work than I thought. So my windows partition still survives for the moment.. (My finger is itching on the shotgun though)

Well, if is of any consolation, you will have to fetch gtk-1.2, glib and I think another dependency to install. It is not THAT hard, it is a pain, yes, but not THAT hard. My recommendation is for you to install with rpm from the command line, so you can check the exact files missing and solve the deps accordingly. This is what's called dep-hell, and what Red Hat had been known for ages, however once you figure that out and are able to go through the installer, it should be fairly painless. Plus, whenever you come across another Loki installer with GTK 1, you won't have to go through it again.

alright, so the game starts up smooth as silk, i can set up all my options and everything, search and find a server i want to play on, but the instant i click 'join server' the whole system hard-locks

wtf is going on?

Me thinks there is something seriously screwed up with the ET game browser, since 2.60b. Can't make it work even in windoze. Try an external game browser.
