I just installed FlightGear from the livna repository. It doesn't show up in the Gnome games menu and I cannot seem to locate the bin file for it so I can create a launcher. Anybody know where to look???

"rpm -ql packagename" should tell you all the files that it installed.

I don't see FlightGear in Livna's RepoView, are you sure you got it from there?

Look for FGFS - base , etc. I only have the base repositories installed + livna. I assumed it was from there. I can see it in the package manager

The files are installed under /usr/share/FlightGear. Those are the xml files, though. I can't seem to locate the bin file.

I'm installing right now. One dependency it pulled in was SimGear, does that package have any executables in it? (I'll know when it's installed, but the download is taking another 10 minutes).

I found the fgconsole under usr/bin/.

rpm -qf /usr/bin/fgconsole show it is not part of flight gear
rpm -qi fgfs-base shows... Summary: FlightGear base scenery and data files
I don't think you've found the package with the actual executable, just the data files.

P.S. It's installed from the extras repository, that's where you should probably be looking for the game.

That thought had occured to me. There are two set of files (Atlas and base) in the repository. I would thought the base had the exe in it. I'll have to check it out more later on....got head off to work. May have to go over to Flightgear site

Atlas seems to be a set of tools for managing maps, not the simulator. I can't find it in RepoView, it's odd. Perhaps the actual game has an incompatible license for Fedora, but the map files are okay.

a search in yumex doesnt yeild anymore packages with flightgear and only two that contain the word flight but that are not even close. I have the same thing going on here, I did run flightgear in FC5 ages ago but have moved on to X-Plane so kind of forgot it. Maybe you should try installing from the flightgear site?

The executable file is named fgfs
I have it in /usr/local/bin because I built it from the source code. However, using the rpms it should be located in usr/bin, otherwise perform a search of fgfs or use which
Use the rpms in the flightgear site. I suggest the SDL version.
