USB Harddisk hangs

Hi,
i plugged my external USB Hrddisk on my fresh Fedora and can´t get it to work.
here is my messages part.

When i try to use fdisk -l it hangs the prozess.

Is there something missig on my machine,
when I first intstalled the System, the installation won´t boot with the Drive plugged in.

Do you have any other USB devices you could test for successful operation?
When you boot (if using GRUB) you may want to press the letter "a" at the GRUB menu and adding ide=nodma to the end of the kernel options line.

Is the kernel correctly detecting the USB ports and the drivers displayed as loaded with lsmod? Here's sample output you may want to compare:

It doesn´t seem so,
I already updated my kernel,
under /sys are soem usb portslistet

What does `/sbin/lsmod | grep usb` produce? And I assume you've checked that USB is enabled in the BIOS?
