hi all,

recently upgraded my system with 160 GB seagate SATA harddrive.

it is a seagate BARACUDA - ST3160211AS.

facing problem with the installation.

couldn't find drivers for it.

is there any suitable site from where this driver can be downloaded?

motherboard is intel and has a dual core processor.

can anyone give a remedy for this problem.

thanks

Normally it is not the hard drive your need drivers for, it is the sata controller. I assume that this is your first sata HD in linux?

Does the BIOS see the drive ?
Does Linux see the SATA controller ?
No - you do NOT need a driver for the disk.

motherboard is intel and has a dual core processor.

Please specify the exact type of the motherboard. Have you set up the BIOS settings correctly to enable the SATA controller?

If it is 965 chipset, you need to enable Native IDE support in BIOS.
