eFax messenger/wine problem

I am trying to get the eFax messenger to work through wine, which ive heard various reports saying it will, but hit an explorer version error. The wine websitge (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=6425) says to edit IeVersionByPass.reg but i cant find it... Any help would be muchly apreciated, including advice on another programme that will read .efx files. It must be a file reader not a fax programme as it's for ny father and he has it set up through eFax and wont want to change unless he absoloutely has to...
