I'm just getting my feet wet with Linux so I decided to install Fedora Core 6 on my old PowerBook G4. It was almost totally painless. Everything works except Airport. The thing troubling me is that it sees the Airport card with no effort on my part, but it is inactive. When I try to activate it, I get an error message telling me to check the cable. WTF?

Not knowing much about Linux, I am assuming that the driver is already installed or the system would not be seeing a wireless card and calling it "Airport" by default. No?

So, what steps should I take to activate it?

is this Apple Airport or Airport Extreme?

with AirportExtreme you may need to use the OSX wireless driver and the utility 'fwcutter'. you should be able to install it easily with yum from a repo. make sure to google your stuff first though.

Just a plain Airport card. It is an older PB G4 867.

It is an Airport Extreme base station... should that make a difference?
